Month of Cardboard 2019
This December Team Neutrino hosted the Month of Cardboard at the Ames Public Library. Each week people of all ages came in and built with cardboard and make-dos. We had people build, spaceships, astronauts, snowmen and cities out of cardboard based on our weekly theme. We had a great time helping everyone build their heart’s content and introducing STEM to more people. We’d like to thank the Ames Public Library for all their help and support!
At the event, we used cardboard Makedo screws to make assembly easier. Check out their website and buy your own here!
To start your own event at a library near you, see this document!
Kickoff 2020
For this year’s game, FIRST is partnering with the Star Wars: Force for Change to bring us Infinite Recharge! We spent our time well on kickoff, reading through the game manual, discussing rules, strategy, and our aims for the season. You can read the game manual here, and watch the game animation below! This year, we’ll be competing at the Greater Kansas City Regional (Feb. 27 – Mar. 1) and the Iowa Regional (Mar. 25 – 28). Good luck to all teams competing this season, and may the Force be with you!
ISU Research Park Showcase
Showcase At the ISU Research Park!
Team Neutrino is a robotics team made up of high school students from all around Story County that works for a seven-week build season beginning in January to design, build, and program a ~125lb robot to face each year’s challenge and compete against other teams at three-day competitions.
The team will hold a showcase on Thursday, December 5, 4:00-5:30pm at the Core Facility Commons. We are excited to meet potential investors and mentors for their team. We will also be serving cookies! Everyone is welcome to attend.
Outside of the build season, we spread the message of FIRST and inspire young kids in the Story County community to pursue a career path in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) through mentoring teams, hosting summer camps, and volunteering at various other outreach events.
Cowtown Throwdown Wrap-Up 2019
The last competition of the 2019 season has come to an end! Team Neutrino attended the Cowtown Throwdown this past weekend, November 1st-2nd. After 63 qualification matches, the team had an undefeated record, and seeded at the #1 position. During alliance selection, the team captained the 1st seed alliance alongside teams 323, 1802, and 5119. Our alliance prevailed through the elimination rounds, defeating the 2nd seed alliance in the finals! We’re so proud of our drivers and thankful for our alliance members. This would not have been possible without them!
